Prof Dr Katarina Nikolić visited the study chair

As part of a long-term and ongoing collaboration on the development of multi-target inhibitors of genetic and epigenetic pathways, the Chair was visited by Dr. Katarina Nikolić, Full Professor of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade.
This collaboration is aimed at the design and discovery of new inhibitors (drug substances) for the treatment of brain, breast, and biliary tract cancers. Simultaneous targeting of genetic and epigenetic pathways offers a promising strategy for the development of more effective and personalized anticancer drug substances.
Prof. Dr. Katarina Nikolić (CV of Katarina Nikolić) defended her PhD thesis in pharmaceutical chemistry and structural analysis in 2007 at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade, Serbia. She currently leads the computational pharmacy group dedicated to the study of multi-target inhibitors for cancer therapy, especially epigenetic pathways.
Professor Katarina Nikolić is ranked in the top 2% of the world’s most cited scientists according to the Stanford List. Her research focuses on computational drug design and molecular modeling in medicinal chemistry for the development of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of malignant tumors and neurodegenerative diseases. She is currently a partner in the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network “Advancing in the Challenge of Improving Lymphoma and LEukemia Survival (Achilles)”, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme.
